A female salt marsh moth, or estigmene acrea, a white moth with black antennae and black specks on her forewings. In females, the hindwings are white.

She's standing on the other side of a fine white hexagonal fabric mesh, and by her abdomen are clusters of very tiny yellow spherical eggs. These were not all the ones she laid.

That first cluster of eggs in a small clear plastic container with damp paper towels on top of some moss, once again not all of her offspring.

Nature really does have some of the most beautiful things to offer. #Estigmeneacrea, the #saltmarshmoth or #acreamoth, is a #moth in the family #Erebidae. The species was first described by Dru Drury in 1773. It is found in North America, and southwards from Mexico to Colombia.
