Apple’s Maps app showing 2 possible routes for driving and the approximate travel time. This route includes / is the Euro Velo 1 cycling route, but wait for it. See screenshot number 2.

Same map, start and destination points, this time with Walking selected. The map shows you a couple of route options, which are basically Car routes along the main road with a couple of diversions where you can go on smaller roads and or a couple of trails. Time and distance to walk are included. You literally can’t walk safely out of an village on route. No pavement or off road route.

This route is not on Apple’s Maps app. Nor are any other directions or measures for cycling.
We live, literally, on the Euro Velo 1 international cycling route. We see cyclists passing by daily.
According to Apple Maps app, there are no cycling routes anywhere near us.
Basically all of the EV1 follows the main roads, same as 📷 1 & 3 below, yet…

Ein bisschen sang- und klanglos werde ich den #Eurovelo6 morgen verlassen. Er führt ab hier südlich der Loire und ich müsste den Fluss letztmalig über die vielbefahrene Hochseilbrücke queren. 🫣
