๐๐ Western jackdaw (Coloeus monedula)
The western jackdaw, also known as the Eurasian jackdaw or the European jackdaw is a characterful bird belonging to the crow family. It is known for its distinctive black plumage, gray nape, and pale eyes. Jackdaws are highly social and often form large flocks, nesting in tree cavities or buildings. They are opportunistic omnivores, feeding on a variety of foods including insects, fruits, seeds, and carrion. The Western jackdaw is found across Europe, Western Asia, and parts of North Africa, where it is commonly seen in urban, suburban, and rural habitats. Four subspecies are recognised.
