It has a black head and chest, and a bright rufous (reddish-brown) body, with a noticeable white wing patch. Native to the Indian Subcontinent and parts of Southeast Asia, it thrive across various habitats from open forests and scrublands to urban gardens. An agile, arboreal, and omnivorous member of the crow family (Corvidae), the Rufous Treepie is very conspicuous, often seen in pairs or small groups. Seen a Jay today in the garden. 50 years ago they was quite common, nowadays it's rare to see this colorful intelligent breed. So much so I initially thought it was an escaped Cockatiel, until I realised it was a Jay. Its made me happy. ๐
