Today’s #ThrowbackThursday post is focused on Bayard Rustin, a key figure in the Civil Rights Movement. Rustin, most known for being the principal organizer on the March on Washington, received the Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously by President Obama in 2013.

We also highlight the events of “Bloody Sunday”. On March 7, 1965, during a march to Montgomery, Alabama, white state troopers attacked the marching bunch. Despite this racist attack, President Johnson introduced the Voting Rights Act and was signed into law in August.
