#PortfolioDay again reminds us that there‘s absolutely no rational reason why the venerable profession of the #ExpeditionPainter should simply be abandoned and forgotten.

Every expedition needs one, consider this in your applications for third party funding! 😉

Fascinated by the now somehow dated profession of the '#ExpeditionPainter' (and the complex relationship between #art and #VisualDocumentation it represents), I found Theo de Feyter's 2011 essay "I took with me a painter" here quite interesting...

Of course, speaking of #Heyerdahl‘s #KonTiki expedition and being the vehement advocat to bring back the venerable profession of the #ExpeditionPainter, it‘s absolutely necessary to also point out navigator Erik #Hesselberg‘s artistic account of the whole adventure!

Remember when I vehemently advocated for reviving the fine old profession of #ExpeditionPainter (and shamelessly volunteered)?
