Celebration Orion gently touched the slightly raised purple mark, examining it and its twin on the opposite side of his neck. The potion hadn't quite worn off yet, and he could feel a hazy sting as he tested the skin. He knew he had to knock it off - he was going to feel it enough the next day, and each day until it fully healed, at least until he used the salve they gave him each morning. "Not bad, Archon Arianelle," Marco teased, elbowing him in the side as he loosened his own tie with a smirk reflected in the mirror. 'Thanks, I think," Orion grinned in return, turning to his longtime roommate and cohort. Marco was the first friend he'd made when they returned from the Colony. The elezen was taking off his scholar's robe and trading it for a warm jacket with patches on the elbows, switching shined dress shoes for an old pair of clogs he wore nearly everywhere he could. "Going out?"
"Are you kidding? Mate, we're throwing you a party. Stelle's invited half the Studium, and we've got two kids from early form watching your mum's door to make sure she comes nowhere near the Last Stand tonight. Get outta those robes and let's go, eh?" "Really? I mean, not just for me, though, right? Feiyette and Victoire both got their marks with me, and I know I'stelle's more likely to throw a party for her girlfriend and maybe some other people, rather than just me.” Marco gave a heavy sigh before he picked up the leather jacket slung over a nearby desk chair and threw it at Orion, who had to turn quickly to catch it so it didn't just hit him.
"Who cares! You're one of several brand new Archons, blah blah. What matters is: there's a party out there with your name on it, and almost certainly a lot of people willing to buy you drinks and maybe even let you get a leg over." He looked at the chronometer on the wall and points his thumb at the door, "If you're not ready in, say, five minutes? I'm leaving and you're gonna have to walk in there alone." Ori quickly began to loosen his tie and undo the top few buttons of his dress shirt. A brand new Archon, eh? He could get used to that. He removed his scholar's robes, changed out of the dress slacks he'd been wearing and put on some more relaxed trousers. Checking himself in the mirror again, he made sure his mass of wavy, dark teal hair was in some semblance of neatness. No time to touch up the kohl on his eyes, but he still looked damn good.
As he finally pulled on the worn leather jacket, a letter fell out of the inner pocket and he bent to pick it up - he'd forgotten about that. Galuf Baldesion had handed it to Ori as he shook hands with the man on the way out of his mark ceremony. He had been rather honored that the storied historian had taken the time to come see him marked, and now wondered what the contents said... Marco cleared his throat at the door to their rooms, tapping his foot, "Ready to go?" Ori set it on the desk, unopened for now. The letter would have to wait, because the party would not.
