The last remaining airworthy Douglas DC-8 in the United States, the Samaritan's Purse DC-8-72CF takes off from Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro, N.C., en route to Rockford, Ill. on Dec. 19. This aircraft, "N782SP" was built in 1968.

My work laptop needed some #AvGeek bling. Wonderful painting from the late 1970s by artist George Akimoto who joined McDonnell Douglas in 1967 and eventually became their chief illustrator.
