#27 Jack Jacobs had a cannon for an arm. Early in his time with the Blue Bombers receivers struggled with the velocity of his passes.

After the 1954 season Jacobs had surgery on his throwing arm. He chose retirement in August 1955 when it became apparent that his arm had not fully recovered yet.

In 1956, Jacobs asked for and received his release from Winnipeg. Jacobs was the new coach of the London Lords (ORFU) and wanted the option to play as well. Jacobs did play in 1956 but chose to focus off the field in 1957 when he added GM to his duties. Jack Jacobs played a mid-season exhibition game for London and he tore his Achilles. 

In 1964 Jacobs returned to the field for the Toledo Tornadoes (UFL) as a punter & emergency backup QB.

Jack Jacobs played one last exhibition game in 1966 so that he could retire as a Blue Bomber.

Jeff Nicklin was a paratrooper in WWII. After training in the US, Nicklin started Canada's first parachute training unit at Camo Shilo.

He was killed in action, shot dead by a German. Nicklin's parachute was caught in a tall tree and he got shot while attempting to cut himself free.
