I blogged about my experience researching the 1926 Census for Ireland. My great-great grandparents never left Ireland and did appear on this census. I blogged about what I learned. annettekapple.blogspot.com/2026/04/the-...

When someone's 1901 and 1911 Irish Census records say they were born in County Cork, but their 1926 census record says they were born in Wales. #genealogy #FamilyHistory (Down the rabbit hole we go!)

#LordBrougham intended passing through the small fishing village of Cannes in 1834, but had to stay because of a cholera outbreak further along his journey. While there, he fell in love with Cannes and subsequently become known as the founder of modern day #Cannes. #Brougham #FamilyHistory

This was the second copy I’ve bought. This one was a treat for my niece, who is really keen to develop her #FamilyHistory research skills.
What fun! I've stayed off the site today. I knew it would be mobbed, and my close family had already left decades before. The few remaining were in County Tyrone, so not in this release.
I'll do a little digging when things calm down.

My 5x-ggps, Frederick Kaylor (German) and Frances (Irish) lived in Pennsylvania and later Iowa. Frederick immigrated when he was about 14, fought in the War of 1812, and later participated in the underground railroad. #genealogy #ancestry #familyhistory

Exploring the 1926 Census of Ireland. My direct family lines left by the early 1920s, but I’m finding wider family links & exploring the changes in the areas my family had lived between 1911 and 1926. The census is free to view.

One of the biggest mistakes in genealogy?
Treating missing records as proof something didn’t happen.
I break this down in my updated ABC guide — it’s changed how I approach research completely.
