A painting of a seated St Joseph with brown hair and beard and ruddy cheeks, depicted at half length, wearing a red tunic with a narrow collar and a gold and red scarf draped over his left shoulder. On his head is a crown of flowers, red alternating with white; light beams emit from it. Around his head are six cherub heads. A stalk of lilies rest against his left side. With Joseph's right hand and arm, he encircles the gently smiing Child in his lap, who leans away from his father, pressing his left hand and arm into Joseph's chest. In his right hand, which rests on is right knee, he holds a single lily. Touchingly, Joseph holds the Child's right toes between his left thumb and fingers.
