The Green Hairstreak is the inspiration behind the Greenwings name, so we're delighted to see it featured today for @europebutterfly #FebruaryButterflyMonth. Photo by @MattDoogue. You can join him in Greece for macro photography - 1 place left!...

The Gatekeeper (Pyronia tithonus).
@europebutterfly's Butterfly of the Day for #FebruaryButterflyMonth. A regular garden visitor here in Oxfordshire, and pictured on Hemp agrimony (Eupatorium cannabinum), a real insect magnet!

A pair of Clouded Yellow butterflies (Colias croceus). Only about a week late for @europebutterfly's Butterfly of the Day. Oh well. 🙄

Continuing with #FebruaryButterflyMonth, today it's the turn of the often under-appreciated Meadow Brown (Maniola jurtina). Here's one from Bernwood last July.
A Small Copper (Lycaena phlaeas) for @europebutterfly's #FebruaryButterflyMonth. Still a relatively common butterfly in SW Spain.
The Wall (Lasiommata megera) is today's #FebruaryButterflyMonth butterfly. Here's a photo of a rather uncooperative one from last summer in Gredos, Spain, nectaring at just over 1,520 metres (around 5000ft) above sea level. Higher than Ben Nevis, the highest point in the UK!
So apparently today it's the turn of the Marsh Fritillary in #FebruaryButterflyMonth. Here's one from #Extremadura, SW Spain last year.
Sadly lost from Oxfordshire, though @UpperThamesBC amongst many others are working on a reintroduction at #RSPB #Otmoor.
