Roseville teen charged for stabbing in downtown Detroit A 16-year-old girl from Roseville faces a felonious assault charge after she allegedly stabbed a boy, 15, at Detroit's Campus Martius park over the weekend. The teen, whose name has not been released, was charged Monday afternoon. Felonious assault is a felony punishable by up to four years in prison, a $2,000 fine or both. It was unclear Monday if the girl was being charged as an adult or juvenile. The stabbing happened Saturday evening in the 1000 block of Woodward Avenue in downtown Detroit at Campus Martius. According to a news release from the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, a verbal altercation between the teens escalated, and the 16-year-old girl used a pocketknife to stab the boy, a Detroit resident, multiple times in the stomach. An investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the arrest of the girl a short time later. A preliminary hearing was held Monday afternoon at the Juvenile Detention Facility in the Wayne County Criminal Justice Center. Further hearings will be held in Macomb County. mjohnson@detroitnews.com @_myeshajohnson Want to comment on this story? Become a subscriber today. Click here.
