I also have these #LoneWolf books by Joe Dever & Gary Chalk - #FlightFromTheDark & #FireOnTheWater. I bought these2 #ZXSpectrum games back in1984but they were just the tapes,no box or book. So it was nice to get these. The books haven't been touched&are in perfect mint condition.

Journeying to a neighboring a kingdom and learning more of the history of the world was another positive aspect of this book, but #FireOnTheWater was, on the whole, considerably less enjoyable than its predecessor. (FIN)

The path that finally led me to a successful completion of #FireOnTheWater took me through 92 sections (approximately 26% of the book), which was 50% more sections that my completion of #FlightFromTheDark took. (10/x)

So it's finally time for my overall thoughts on Lone Wolf Book 2: #FireOnTheWater.

Not gonna lie, it left a bad taste in my mouth and I felt kinda burnt out after finishing it. I died SIX TIMES, so it took me twice as long to complete as Book 1 did. (1/x)

And that's the end of #FireOnTheWater! This was a monster of a gamebook, much more challenging and frustrating than the first. I'll post my final thoughts about it soon. But for now, good night!

I'm about to abandon an ally, sacrificing him like a pawn. From a role-playing perspective, this is a decision I can never live down.

So I'm having to rethink how I play Lone Wolf if I want him to survive the tunnels that lead to Hammerdal. Whether on the right or the left path, there is a Helghast who automatically kills LW if he does not possess the Magic Spear.

Loading up my saved game at Section 340. I'm traveling through a tunnel that will hopefully take me to Hammerdal, capital of the kingdom of Durenor, where I will then retrieve the Sommerswerd and use it against the Darklords now invading my homeland.

OK, let's see if I can make some more progress before going to bed. I've been killed THREE times so far, but finally made it to Port Bax with the Seal of Hammerdal and now need to enter the city's naval quarter.

Loading up my saved game at Section 261. I know that the encounter coming up has a good chance of killing me, but I am trying to play Lone Wolf as Good (originally Lawful, now a bit more Neutral Good), so I can't ignore cries for help.

Okay, let's see if I can somehow recover from the previous session. Loading up my saved game at Section 194. I've lost all my equipment, and I'm pretty sure I need to get the Seal of Hammerdal back in order to avoid the fight that killed me last time.

So I've lost the Seal of Hammerdal I will need to complete the quest and apparently now have no real choice but to go to Durenor via Port Bax. I'm worried that I don't have a shot at successfully completing the book, but I buy the ticket.

I'm not as enthusiastic about this book as I was the first one, as choosing the story path via random rolls and then being subjected to an item strip has taken some of the fun out of it. But I'll soldier on and load up my saved game at Section 194.

The last session ticked me off. Instead of being given choices, too much of my path was determined by random rolls, ultimately leading to my death in a random event. When I was given a choice, I made the ones that seemed sensible to my character.

Loading my saved game at Section 333 to play for a while before I go to bed. Although I know that sinister forces are trying to prevent me from getting to Durenor, reaching Sommerlund's allied kingdom is my mission. I must get to the boat.

Loading my saved game at Section 1 of Book 2 and starting off with some technical notes. Last session, the Action Chart registered my +2 CS bonus from my Shield, but not my +4 EP bonus from the Chainmail Waistcoat. Both showed up when I loaded the saved game, though.
