On an autumn afternoon, two fairy tale kids in a forest clearing find a book with strange writing on the cover; an inkbrush is attached to the book with red ribbon. Splatters of ink drip out from the pages, and inky footprints lead away from the book. A fancy scroll caption reads: "Someone LOST a book in the deep, dark woods..."

At my wife's encouragement (okay, she insisted), I participated in the #FolkTaleWeek thing on Instagram. Kinda enjoyed it though, because as soon as I saw the list of prompt words for each day of the week, the story popped into my head.

The story begins with the rare white fox, guardian of the village, leading away two hunters on a chase into the forest. She becomes lost before finding safety in the Temple of Inari Daim-yojin.

Lotti felt scared. Her friend was missing and she was lost deep in the woods. She decided to create a poster to find her lost rabbit.

A heron and a girl, back to back, connected by a red ribbon. There are spider webs around them and a small spider ropes down between them. In the book they are called "little brothers". They deliver cursed eggs, intended as a gift to the people causing these curses and also that one or the other gets lost.

Nettle, the girl who was cursed and became a heron, but when she became human again, she lost something along the way.
