Seems like a good time to post my no kings folktale. 🚫👑 This is a second prototype of a zine of my folktale week 2025 drawings. I want to make some adjustments to the text and artwork for the final book. #folktaleweek #nokings #zines

A hand of an anthropomorphic bear hovers over the open pages of a large book. An unrecognisable script can be seen on the paper. The image is divided diagonally by the bear's cloak. Behind the bear, rain falls outside the cave they are in. Dots of light illuminate the roof of their temporary shelter.

A large explosion of light encapsulates the silhouette of an anthropomorphic bear wearing a cloak, and holding a staff. They are crouched on the ground, braced against the force of the explosion. A large book lies next to them on the ground, it's pages flapping wildly. Outside of the ball of light, almost horizontal rain intersects the dark trunks and branches of a forest of gnarly trees.
Text in the lower right corners reads: "5. Charm"

Hey, is it still #folktaleweek 2025? No. Sigh. I'm still going to work through the remaining prompts because I'm learning a ton and enjoying the process very much.

This image is for CHARM. (Included the 2nd to show how it repeats on the horizontal.)

Seven frames telling the story of how the Princess Moon, sad for not knowing how to swim, envied the stars, until one of them fell to the ocean, when it discovered an old book of spells and a magic charm, which, with the help of her sisters in the sky, brought back. The Princess Moon attached the charm to her crown, learning how to swim instantaneously, and just before dawn when Brother Sun came to say hello.

7. The stars and the Princess Moon dance to welcome the new day, and Brother Sun says a quick hello before the others go to bed.
In the Princess Moon's crown a gem shines. It tells of the adventures to come, once they all go swimming in the dark of the night sky.

Here's an illustration of the whole (hole) journey.

You see a light up ahead and realise, as you pop out of the hole, that the sun is rising. You've been falling all night. Tonight you'll bring sandwiches!
