Spent a week chasing a comet along Lake Superior. Never got the shot. Last night of the trip, walked outside and noticed the Milky Way was right there the whole time. One of my favorite captures ever.

Zwischen massiven Rohrleitungen und fein gestutzten Hecken entfaltet sich ein ganz normaler Alltag im Ruhrgebiet. Dieses Foto zeigt die August-Thyssen-Hütte in #Duisburg, um 1970 – eine Zeit, in der Industrie und Schrebergarten näher beieinanderlagen als man heute oft glaubt.
Straßenszene mit kleinem Kiosk in Gelsenkirchen-Ückendorf. Der Kiosk hat eine rot-weiße Fassade mit Coca-Cola-Logo, Schriftzug „KIOSK ERFRISCHUNGEN“ und eine kleine Markise. Drei Personen stehen davor, ein Motorrad ist davor und ein Motorroller daneben geparkt. An der angrenzenden Wand ist ein großes Schalke-04-Logo zu sehen. Im Fenster hängt ein „Bild“-Plakat, daneben eine Langnese-Eiskarte. Im Hintergrund sind Backsteingebäude sichtbar.

Das Foto zeigt eine ruhige Wohnstraße in Bottrop-Ebel mit einer fast perfekten Symmetrie: beidseitig stehen identische Backsteinhäuser mit steilen, ziegelgedeckten Dächern. Die Straße führt perspektivisch zu einem zentralen Fluchtpunkt am Horizont, was dem Bild eine starke Tiefenwirkung verleiht. In der Mitte der Straße trägt eine Person eine ungewöhnlich hohe Leiter senkrecht, was die vertikale Linie der Perspektive betont und einen surrealen Kontrast zur sonst alltäglichen Szenerie schafft. Eine weitere Person steht im Vordergrund, während eine dritte weiter hinten die Straße entlanggeht. Ein geparktes Auto ist in der Ferne zu erkennen. Die Schwarz-Weiß-Ästhetik verstärkt die grafische Wirkung des Bildes und lenkt den Fokus auf Formen, Linien und Komposition. Insgesamt wirkt die Szene ruhig, fast inszeniert – mit einem Hauch von künstlerischer Irritation durch die Leiter, die wie ein Fremdkörper im geordneten Straßenbild erscheint.
