Franchesca Ramsey was born on November 29, 1983 and raised in West Palm Beach, Florida. She moved to New York City in 2009 where she worked for national retailer Ann Taylor in graphic design. In 2012, her YouTube video "Sh*t White Girls Say...to Black Girls" gained national attention, leading to interviews on NPR, BBC, and with Anderson Cooper. In 2008, after winning the YouTube Red Carpet Reporter contest, she was harassed and targeted, beginning with a thread of comments filled with racial epithets and suggestions of someone stalking her. Using a $25,000 grant from John Green’s Creators for Change project, Franchesca worked tirelessly to build an inclusive community focused on preventing and calling out prejudice, xeno- and homophobia, and guiding people on how to effectively confront discrimination and bigotry at work and in the community. Ramsey became a writer on Comedy Central's The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore in 2016, and has appeared in television series such as Superstore, Survival of the Thickest, Broad City, After Midnight, and Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell. Her reflective 2018 collection of essays “Well, That Escalated Quickly: Memoirs and Mistakes of an Accidental Activist” details her unplanned role as an activist against racism and online harassment, and was nominated for an NAACP award, as well as listed as one of Amazon's best books of that year. She writes about “troll behavior”, and says the book is intended to help others pilot through the online world, including her own mistakes. In addition, she opines about why she and others sometimes use online misbehavior to deal with offline personal disappointments. Ms. Ramsey is an active public speaker, actor, podcast host, and writer. I don't even think the billionaires can thrive at this point. Corruption can only go so far. They need the stock market and a booming economy too.
