The high limit thermostat on our dryer tripped because of a blockage in the dryer exhaust tube.
After some “percussive maintenance” on the existing part (banging it sharply on the bench top), the internal piece of metal got reset to its original position to complete the circuit. Here it is shown with continuity on the multimeter.
A newly cleaned out exhaust tube running from the back of the dryer to the external wall of the laundry room.
Here’s all of the junk I pulled out of the exhaust tube. This had dried on the inside of the tube and had to be scraped out by hand.
Our dryer was blowing air and tumbling, but produced no heat. It turned out that the high limit thermostat had tripped.
I cleaned the exhaust tube and did some “percussive maintenance” on the part to reset it, and now we have a working dryer again.
