Also, time to get rid of the Capitola and Redmon Dams, downstream in #MadisonCounty, NC. This would give the #FrenchBroad a clean, no-dams run in all of North Carolina, from its very headwaters to the Tennessee border.
#FrenchBroad is an #Asheville bean-to-bar #chocolatier committed to fair trade and living wages. We’re so happy to support them.
This is the Dark Collection.
From the bottom: Mint Ganache, vanilla ganache, almond praline, and blackberry ganache. All #glutenfree and #vegan. Gorgeous!
Recent post from our pre-spawn float trip in March. I truly value my small group of treasured guides, in both saltwater and fresh. Best way to learn new skills and new water, and to have a chance at a trophy!

Still a lot of debrie in the river #FrenchBroad
Rocky bluff in late winter overlooking the French Broad River in Madison County, NC, USA. The bluff features a few evergreens and still-bare deciduous trees mixed in with the rocky outcroppings.
18" smallmouth bass (micropterus dolomieu) being released safely back into the French Broad River in Madison County, NC. The olive and green body is colored nicely with darker vertical bars. The fish is being held horizontally from below by an angler's moistened hands, with nose pointing down towards the water an instant before release. The species is native and wild in this river.
A couple more pictures from the recent float on the #FrenchBroad in late winter, to target bigger #smallmouth as they emerged from their winter pattern in advance of spawning season. #flyfishing #rivers #Asheville
Ready for the warmwater #flyfishing among all these currents, eddies and boulders on the #FrenchBroad. It will be all smallmouth bass...native and wild...all spring, summer and fall. 1/

The French Broad River winds through Asheville on a cloudy December day. There is a smaller tree with exposed roots in the foreground, holding tightly to the remaining bank.
Perhaps one of my favorite rivers in North America. You've captured its intense beauty and power so well. I offer this view in thanks.
