My brain is short-circuiting trying to figure out what I enjoy more - Adams getting roasted to his face in a way that he can't even defend (#FuckEricAdams), or Cuomo sticking his foot in his mouth so badly that you can see the outline of his sole in the seat of his pants (#FuckAndrewCuomo). @qagggy.bsky.social Yes, this is why #NYCMayor has made traffic violations for people on bikes a criminal rather than civil infraction, and also why he intends to (illegally) lower the speed limit for ebikes 15mph near the end of the month.

I'm going to preface the next few ballot proposals by giving my thought process. I hate Eric Adams (I'm going to claim credit for the #FuckEricAdams hashtag). I also greatly dislike our current city council, who love cars a bit too much for my taste, and like most car-lovers, tend towards […]

Laffy (@GottaLaff@mstdn.social) Via Yashar Ali: NEWS via Politico: New York Mayor Eric Adams has been offered a position by the Trump administration at HUD Full Story: bit.ly/4ncMAPe earlier: BREAKING Trump advisors have discussed the possibility of giving NY Mayor Eric Adams an administration position to get him to drop his re-election bid. They have also discussed offering the same to Curtis Silwa. All so they can clear the race for Andrew Cuomo.

For the millionth time, #FuckEricAdams. He was always a goddamned fascist republican cop, and the fact that he ran and won as a democrat speaks volumes about how fucked up NYC voting is. https://mstdn.social/@GottaLaff/115142059698553377

It's Monday in New York City, where prosecutors say Mayor Eric Adams’ former chief adviser, Ingrid Lewis-Martin, scored a role in the TV show "Godfather of Harlem" in exchange for scaling back a bike lane project that a production studio's owners opposed.

But Lewis-Martin wasn't the first person close to Adams to score a job on the show. In 2020, Adams’ son, Jordan Coleman, served as actor Forest Whitaker’s personal assistant during the show’s second season.

After two last-minute appeals from safe street advocates, a state appellate court panel ruled on Monday afternoon that Mayor Eric Adams could rip out a three-block stretch of protected bike lane on Bedford Avenue from Willoughby Avenue to Flushing Avenue. Adams's Department of Transportation, which installed the bike lane barely nine months ago, began the demolition late Wednesday night.

"It's really sad to see [the removal of] a safety project that has been fought for by a whole host of community organizations, lots of local businesses," said Elizabeth Denys, co-chair of Transportation Alternatives' Brooklyn Activist Committee, on Wednesday night. "Many people put years of advocacy into getting this safety project on the street, including the protected bike lane and all of the pedestrian safety improvements that came with it."

"Many people put years of advocacy into getting this safety project on the street, including the protected bike lane and all of the pedestrian safety improvements that came with it."

Crash data from the DOT showed that the entire protected lane on Bedford, which separated bicyclists from traffic with a barrier of parked cars and stone blocks, reduced overall injuries by 47 percent. But Mayor Adams's decision to kill the lane was ultimately about politics, not safety.

This past spring, members of the local Orthodox Jewish community, many of whom opposed the bike lane's installation in the first place, became incensed after several close calls between e-bike riders and children. In particular they pointed to a video that showed a child being knocked down by an e-bike rider after the child ran from a double parked car, through two other parked cars, and into the protected bike lane.

At a May 22 town hall meeting, Mayor Adams said he would heed the calls of the people asking for the bike lane to be changed. "Eric Adams is willing to risk someone getting killed on Bedford Avenue in order to secure the vote from this community," a City official told Hell Gate last month. "This is not a decision that prioritizes public safety." (His gambit may fail regardless of the bike lane's fate;

One Orthodox man, who declined to give his name, told Hell Gate that he supported Adams's decision to remove the bike lane, which he thought was "poorly planned," but believed that Adams intervened mostly because of the general election in November.

"I don't think he would have stepped in if there wasn't an election," he said, adding that he liked Adams before the mayor decided to remove the bike lane. "He has a very hard job because it's New York City, but he's doing a decent job."

The man said that it can be difficult for cyclists to spot school buses picking kids up during the day because of the wall of parked cars separating the bike lane from the street. As a tow truck dragged the last of those cars away so the pressure-washing truck could do its work, Denys countered that the City could have solved that problem of visibility by removing a few parking spaces and creating protected bus boarding zones so bicyclists could spot the buses. Other transit advocates made similar arguments to a group of Orthodox Jewish men gathered to watch the bike lane's removal.

The actual removal of the bike lane was extremely loud and agonizingly slow. A massive truck obliterated less than a third of the bright green line on Bedford Avenue between Willoughby and Myrtle Avenues in about an hour of work, as a worker watched to make sure no debris got caught in the machine. Two bicyclists whisked by after 11 p.m. realizing—mid-ride—that the bike lane was being shorn off.

One of them turned to their friend, perplexed: "Wait, are they getting rid of this?"

"Dear New Yorkers,

Campaign finance officials could not verify the billing address of more than 200 credit card contributions Mayor Eric Adams’ re-election campaign has submitted for public matching funds, raising questions about the true source of many of his donations.

In Adams’ 2025 reelection bid, the city’s Campaign Finance Board has found $202,000 of the $602,000 in donations he’s submitted to be invalid for public match through May 19, THE CITY found — one dollar out of every three. Those funds would have been worth $1.6 million in public matching dollars."
