9.25/10 for #jDrama #FuneWoAmu a story all about words that used them REALLY well. Also, another #JDrama that incorporates the scarring and isolating impact of the COVID pandemic in a way I've not seen in a #kDrama yet.
A great example of why I'm happy to pay to support #jDrama fansubbers. Details like this one from #FuneWoAmu seldom make it into mainstream subs. Majime is the lead male character, on the left in the white shirt.
A dictionary editor is talking about a feature of Japanese called "ate-ji". The explanation on screen is as follows: [Simplified explanation: Ate-ji: 1. The 'common reading' of Kanji are used to express certain words (e.g. Country-names etc.) with Kanji, regardless of the Kanji's meanings 2. The inverse. 'Common reading' is discarded but the Meaning is retained. Here the 2 Kanjis are 'Gentle etc.'+'Breeze/Wind etc.']
The translator said this is a "simplified" explanation. To which the only possible response is:
"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means" 😂
#jDrama #FuneWoAmu doing a bang-up job of reminding me why neither of my neurons will EVER grok Japanese. 😱🤦♂️
Watching #jDrama #FuneWoAmu and being reminded again why #JDramas are my crack. The low budget production values are off-putting to many & often mocked, but I don't care much about them. It's the stories I love, stories not told elsewhere. Like dictionary compilation for family healing. 😍😊
TFW you sit through someone describing a complicated labour-intensive manual procedure in #jDrama #FuneWoAmu and think "surely, they'd just do it digitally?" and then the FL says this:
Into ep 2 of #jDrama #FuneWoAmu and loving it. A whole Drama built around the compilation of a DICTIONARY?! Be Still My Beating Heart. 😍😍 watching Ikeda Elaiza scribbling notes with her left hand (💖😍) reminded me of the first of hers I watched, in which her sinistrality was key - Hidarikiki No Eren👍
I'd never heard of Noda Yojiro until today, when the cast of #jDrama #GlassHeart talked about the song he wrote for TENBLANK. Now I'm watching him as the ML in #jDrama #FuneWoAmu, a quintessentially Japanese show about a tiny team building a dictionary 😊
The anime poster for "The Great Passage" based on the novel of the same title by Shion Miura.
Her dad's line of work reminded me of the #anime adaptation of the novel #TheGreatPassage by Shion Miura. #FunewoAmu #booksky #filmsky
It might not be to everyone's cup of tea, but I loved it and the main OST is also quite catchy.
#FuneWoAmu c'est aussi un rappel qu'une animation d'exception peut aussi se manifester dans des scènes du quotidien
#FuneWoAmu déborde de character acting, c'en est saisissant *_* J'avais plus vu ça depuis le dernier KyoAni
