#TechFocus grew out of #GIJC25 pre-conference day, where 100 investigative journalists, editors, technologists and researchers from nearly 50 countries came together to examine the most urgent tech-related challenges and opportunities facing investigative journalism.

Why does this matter?
Because in the latest #GIJC25 conference, the trend persists: again, only 1 Black woman, among 55 Data journalism Speakers. Also, from 2019-2025, there have been zero Data speakers of Pacific Islander ethnicity. 👇🏾
