The largest #eruption on record of #Kanlaon/#Canlaon #volcano (#Philippines) on June 3 produced an upper tropospheric SO₂ cloud (~0.05 Tg SO₂), seen here from #geostationary orbit by #SouthKorea's UV #GK2B #GEMS sensor.

The #SouthKorean geostationary #UV #GK2B #GEMS sensor did not detect any significant increase in SO₂ emissions at #Marapi #volcano (#Sumatra) up to ~2 hours prior to its Dec 3/08:00 UTC #eruption. On Dec 4, SO₂ is observed dispersing in multiple directions. @PVMBG_ @id_magma
#SouthKorea's geostationary #GK2B #GEMS instrument is tracking some of the SO₂ emitted by the Nov 20-21 #Ulawun #eruption as it disperses over the Western Pacific. #Volcanic degassing from #Dukono (#Indonesia) and #Philippine #volcanoes also visible. @andrewcraigtupp @airesEO
Great to see the new #geostationary UV #GK2B #GEMS hourly SO₂ data presented at #AGU22. This animation shows SO₂ degassing at #Taal #volcano (#Philippines) detected by GEMS in October 2022. Potential game-changer for volcanic gas monitoring in E. Asia. @phivolcs_dost @nababaha
