This is very good advice. If different ideas are thrown out you want to be very overt about the final decision. The make-stuff-up groups I play with now have a solid culture of doing this.

A Year in Crestfall: Autumn ## Introduction Everyone gets a new farmhand token and the challenge level increases to 6. ## Autumn ### Month 7 1a. Jane, big crop project (♠). Jane invites Alfonso to give the scarecrow a fashion makeover. The proper vibes make all the differece. (Roll 6 + 3 ♠ + 1 Alfonso = 10. Progress 38/36. Project complete! Everyone increases their Spades ♠ stat and their Diamonds ♦ stat by 1.) 1b. Jane, 10♥, interaction with neutral Violet (♠ or ♣). Violet shares that her mom has had to go into the big city for some medical treatments. Jane volunteers to help with the restaurant, both in the kitchen and making deliveries. (Roll 2 + 4 ♠ + 0 Violet = 6. Need 6, so success. Violet now has a positive opinion of Jane.) 2a. Alice, small fundraiser project (♦). Alice helps Judith set up for the book fair by carrying and unloading boxes. (Roll 2 + 1 ♦ + 1 Judith = 4. Progress: 15/27.) 2b. Alice, 2♦, new big project. Alice learns about a grant that could fund starting a cattle herd at the farm. She begins reviewing the paperwork. (This starts a new big Diamonds ♦ and Spades ♠ project with a target of 36. Roll 4 + 3 ♠ = 7. Progress: 7/36.) 3a. Keegan, big personal project: Alfonso (♦ or ♥). For their first date, Keegan takes Alfonso out for a fancy multi-course dinner. (Roll 3 + 2 ♥ + 1 Alfonso = 6. Progress: 6/36.) 3b. Keegan, 6♠, challenge. When Alfonso walks Keegan home after the date, they find that rabbits have been digging up the carrot field. They work together to improve the fencing in this area. (Roll 5 + 2 ♠ + 1 Alfonso = 8. Need 6, so success. Bonus token for Spades ♠.) ### Month 8 1a. Jane, big personal project: Violet (♠ or ♥). Jane begins an apprenticeship under Violet to become a chef. It starts with a proper introduction to a professional kitchen. (Roll 5 + 4 ♠ + 1 Violet = 10. Progress: 10/36.) 1b. Jane, 5♣, challenge. A thunderstorm starts while Jane is on her way back to the farm from the restaurant. She dashes into Alfonso’s shop for cover. (Roll 3 + 2 ♣ + 1 Alfonso = 6. Need 6, so success. Bonus token for Clubs ♣.) 2a. Alice, big grant project (♦ or ♠). Alice talks through what will be needed for a cattle herd with Jack. This helps her draft a proposal that includes grazing space, herding dogs, and handling techniques. (Roll 6 + 2 ♠ + 1 Jack = 10. Progress: 17/36.) 2b. Alice, 4♣, challenge. Alice gathers fencing supplies for a cow pen. (Roll 4 + 2 ♣ = 6. Need 6, so success. Bonus token for Spades ♠.) 3a. Keegan, big grant project (♦ or ♠). Because Alice will complain if she doesn’t get some animals soon, Keegan helps review the grant draft—though he invites Alfonso over to lend his business eye to it. (Roll 6 + 2 ♦ + 1 Alfonso + 1 bonus token + Jane farmhand token = 11. Progress: 28/36.) Jane also provides some ideas, as she’s been learning some business practices from Violet. 3b. Keegan, 7♥, interaction with negative Clare (♦ or ♥). Clare tells Keegan that Kevin and Judith are dating. It’s a secret because Kevin doesn’t want Josh to know. (Roll 6 + 2 ♥ – 1 Clare = 7. Need 7, so success. Clare now has a neutral opinion of Keegan.) ### Month 9 1a. Jane, big grant project (♦ or ♠). Jane gets the inside scoop from Violet on desirable beef types to add into the cattle grant proposal. (Roll 3 + 2 ♠ + 1 Violet + Alice farmhand token + Keegan farmhand token = 8. Progress: 36/36. Project complete! Everyone increases their Spades ♠ stat and their Diamonds ♦ stat by 1.) Keegan and Alice each do one last final review of the document and then submit it. 1b. Jane, 8♣, interaction with neutral Josh (♥ or ♣). Kevin sends Josh to the farm to help again. This time, Jane shows him how to catch frogs. (Roll 4 + 2 ♣ + 0 Josh = 6. Need 6, so success. Josh now has a positive opinion of Jane.) Josh considers this farm activity more interesting than weeding. 2a. Alice, big personal project: Benny (♠ or ♥). One particular calf in the new herd of Highland cattle stands out to Alice as one that she wants to closely befriend, a young bull named Benny. (Roll 4 + 3 ♠ + 1 Benny = 8. Progress: 8/36.) 2b. Alice, Q♠, new arrival. While at the school library doing more book fair prep, Alice meets Denise, who has just moved to town. She is an old friend of Judith, though they have only just met in person for the first time. Denise is a hopeless romantic, and she has come to Crestfall for the inspiration and quiet she needs to write a spicy country romance novel. She takes a liking to Alice, who she thinks could be a good model for one of her characters. 3a. Keegan, big personal project: Alfonso (♦ or ♥). Keegan and Alfonso visit a pumpkin patch and do a corn maze. (Roll 3 + 3 ♦ + 1 Alfonso = 7. Progress: 13/36.) 3b. Keegan, 9♦, interaction with negative Judith (♦ or ♥). As the town recordkeeper, Judith is in charge of organizing the upcoming Ancestor Harvest Festival. She asks Keegan’s help acquiring materials for it. (Roll 2 + 3 ♦ – 1 Clare = 4. Need 7, so failure. Clare still has a negative opinion of Keegan.) Keegan overspends on the tight budget. ### Festival At the Ancestor Harvest Festival, townsfolk leave offerings in remembrance of family members who have died. The farmers set up an altar in memory of their parents. Jane puts frogs on it. Alice adds a horseshoe and a jar of garlic jam. Keegan’s contribution is tarts made with sweet potato and carrot fillings. At the event, Keegan and Jane meet Denise for the first time. Jane gets along with her just fine, but Keegan dislikes all her prying questions. She was considering him as a model for the romantic lead in her novel, but now she has a negative opinion of him. Jane takes +1 Clubs ♣, Keegan takes +1 Hearts ♥, and Alice takes +1 Diamonds ♦. ## Townsfolk This is the master list of townsfolk by the end of the season.
