#gmtip I pass around a feedback form after each trpg session I run asking my players how they feel I can:
-improve combat
-better engage with their builds
-keep them engaged the narrative going forward
-involve the impact of their choices on the world
-a last question that just says "handjob?"

#GMTip: To beat #WritersBlock in a #Homebrew world, run a one-shot. Playing through a small slice of your setting is the most effective way to test your ideas and generate new ones through play. How would you use this tip to help you generate ideas and gain inspiration?

#GMTip for your #TTRPG table:

Mundane does not mean useless nor boring - to your players and their PCs. Let those moments and NPCs highlight just how special your PCs are.

Without that contrast, your PCs may feel mundane compared to the threats they face.

#GMTip for #Traveller - task chains are fun, but make sure players know that it can seriously kick them in the dick. 😂😂

#GMtip when in doubt, make sure that player's abilities are rewarded. To the best of your ability you should let players use their abilities and reward them.

If a thief is able to procure an item after pickpocketing someone, make sure that it's something useful!

#GMtip from running Traveller for the first time on stream. The skills are pretty malleable, I've tried using certain skills for more than just one purpose.

For example, I had everyone roll "recon" to try and sense motive, when it's meant to be deception. Continued-

GM tip: add an enigmatic NPC early in the story. Have them appear, establish a little personality, and vanish. Later, when you need to: draw out a shy PC; motivate a side quest; plug a plot hole, out they come, motivated to do whatever needs doing, and it looks like you planned it.

What a busy time in general as we approach the holidays - more eps incoming! But! I wanted to share a trick I use: struggling to characterize an NPC, villain or hero? Look at old pro wrestling! The 80s and 90s esp for ott looks, voices/cadence, even lines from promos! #ttrpg #podcast #gmtip

Dungeon Design Tip: Try to avoid springing traps at random. Make sure that there is some detail about the scene that players could use to determine that something might be trapped.

GM tip of the day:
Anything involving psionics (an artifact, a villain or even a player character's power) always ought to accommodate an element of horror.

For it is power emerging not from nebulous magic, divine will or pure muscles - but from the unbidden dark pits of the mind.

Faster combat makes the game better for everyone. Roll attack and damage together, post initiative where everyone can see it, and verbally call out the turns. #GMTip #DMTip

I completely agree with Rich.
If you don´t want to railroad your players in a obvious way, but you need them to engage or come agross a certain point for the history to progress, you could read about the Quantum Ogre method.
You can apply this to not only encounters.

Never underestimate the power of TTRPGs to help a person feel better. #GMTip #DMTip

Feeling burnt out? One strategy is to skip to the part you are excited about! Excitement helps to counteract the negative feelings of burn out. #GMTip #DMTip

Random tables don't have to be used randomly. Pick the encounter you are excited about. #GMTip #DMTip

The DM doesn't need to do everything. Players can keep track of initiative, organize food and snacks, and even schedule sessions. Split up the work to make it easier on everyone. #GMTip #DMTip

Set expectations early. When and were do people need to let the group know that they are missing a session? What materials should players bring? What content is allowed / disallowed? Clear information helps the gaming group to run smoothly. #GMTip #DMTip

A good way to start a campaign is to ask your players what they want out of a campaign. #GMTip #DMTip

There are lots and lots of tools for DMs. More tools, in fact, than the problems DMs need tools to solve. Skip the gimmicks. Choose tools to solve your problems as they come up. #GMTip #DMTip

The GURPS book on Horror is an excellent read for any horror game no matter which system you are using. #GMTip #DMTip

Read lots of systems. Borrow new ideas for your game. #GMTip #DMTip

Make a list of names in advance and keep it handy. Pull a name when you need one during the game or during prep. #DMTip #GMTip

I added a house rule to limit magic item usage for each rarity to a minimum level, with an option to use skill checks to learn higher level item usage. It streamlines the game by allowing stores to stock items for all levels without breaking the game or requiring outrageous prices. #GMTip #DMTip

Engage all the senses when giving description. Use smell when you want players to remember. #GMTip #DMTip

Set the expectation that a player should be ready to act or ask a question when it's their turn. Players holding up the game? Consider skipping players that aren't ready by having them take the dodge action. #GMTip #DMTip

Use your voice to start em and end turns verbally. Give a heads up to who is up next. No one should ever have to ask, who's turn is it. #GMTip #DMTip

Be mindful of how the time is spent at your table. The DM has a lot of influence over how the game moves along. A quicker paced game keeps the players interested. #GMTip #DMTip

Worried about the environmental impact of running AI for your gaming needs? Download a model and run it on your PC. Local models are often more environmentally friendly and use fewer resources. #GMTip #DMTip

Think of AI as one big random table. Roll for 20 ideas and pick the one that fits your game best. #GMTip #DMTip

I'm terrible about actually posting here, but...

#GMTip #TTRPG - Try and remember "SER" in your games: Support, Enable, and Reward the style of gameplay you enjoy.

Not just as a GM, but as a player - tell fellow players you enjoyed what they're doing. A little positive feedback goes a LONT way.
