Half the population consult General Practice every month
The average number per person is 7 per year
Some people consult a lot (50) & all this for £107.57
It’s not enough & GPs are leaving
£50-£100 for a private GP consultation is an alternative

Pt actually has serious problem
Tells inexperienced non-Dr HCP
Although symptoms don't compute, HCP doesn't refer as they see Dr's >> stress level
So HCP feels driven to an in-repertoire forced-to-fit plan that cannot work
The pt worsens..

As a hospital doctor I cannot stand by & see what is happening to our GPs. Without them the whole healthcare system will collapse. They are being scapegoated & used to divert blame from year of Gov failings. Once done with GPs we are the next targets #GPCrisis #SupportGPs
In chemists; pharmacist persuading someone unable to see GP to see GP for antibiotics for condition which to me clearly didn't need them
Kept mum, bad to undermine, but folks there really is no substitute for accessible expertise & experience
But we're losing it

Please guys its not the bureaucracy that's the main problem (if your practice is well organised with good IT training); its the intensity of clinical workload pressure that is too high which practices are not allowed to control
