As #GRTHM comes to a close, I’m reflecting on the inspiring event held at City Hall last week. In times of fear and division, celebrating Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities, and their rich culture and history, matters more than ever. Let’s keep standing together.
My success isn’t despite my culture, it’s because of it. So don’t ask what Traveller kids need to leave behind. Ask: What strengths do they already bring? #GRTHM
Final post for Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month.

My second post for #GRTHM about my great-grandfather Christy ‘Jackdaw’ Joyce. Like many GRT people, he served in the army - a complicated decision. He was one of the only known Travellers to be awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal and one of four awarded to the Pioneer Corps in WW2.
People smiling at a pride march. Roma flag visible in the foreground and an irish flag tucked into a partcipants waist band
In 2019, I marched with the first ever LGBT+ Gypsy, Roma & Traveller group at London Pride. Not because I wanted to, but because I had to. Visibility matters, especially during Gypsy, Roma & Traveller History Month 🏳️🌈 #GRTHM
