Road Rock - In 2002, my old band "ing" opened for Gary Floyd's amazing Black Kali Ma and the always wonderful Pansy Division. I recorded the show on my video camera which I had set up in the back of the venue. I finally found an early CD transfer I made of Gary's set which I am playing here. They rocked so hard, just a tremendous band. I really need to transfer that video over to digital one of these days soon...

Just back from a small heartfelt dinner celebrating Gary Floyd's birthday today with his husband and another close friend (non FB). For those who have not been following, Gary passed away earlier this year. He was a dear friend as well as bandmate, so his passing was losing close family. Only now I'm able to really listen to Gary's music again without crying. So, here I am spinning one of his albums with Sister Double Happiness (1993's Uncut). If you haven't listened to this band, or his other bands The Dicks or Black Kali Ma please listen. Much greatness there. Hoping to formally release our mixed & mastered album with his final band The Buddha Brothers in the near future.

Winding down with another recording that was important to my dear friend Gary Floyd (The Dicks, Sister Double Happiness, Black Kali Ma) who left us yesterday (RIP): Ian & Sylvia's "Four Strong Winds." We did this live with his last band The Buddha Brothers. Recently he'd asked me to refresh on it as he wanted to sing it again soon. Interestingly, this album also includes a version of "Poor Lazarus" which after hearing Gary do it once a-cappella (with audience handclaps) I begged him to perform more regularly as a final encore. It was a jaw-dropper.
