I would be remiss in not acknowledging that the designs for the #KyivSleighCoat, #GermanPatrician outfit and #WineAndHoneyDoubłet have been influenced by online brainstorming /questions /comments

At least the #GermanPatrician outfit is comfy on 45° weather!

2) I'd love to wear the #GermanPatrician outfit, but, you know, red 😐.

And I'd rather not wear a 🎯 branded vest over it.

There's some daylight pics of the #GermanPatrician doublet and Venetian style breeches.

And the nice, dark red socks I had ordered to go with the #GermanPatrician outfit finally arrived, after taking a tour of the north eastern USA.

Putting the #GermanPatrician doublet to the ultimate test, a run through the washing machine.

1) So, if people are wondering why I'm not sewing full time, or taking more commissions, the material cost for the #GermanPatrician outfit is ~$750. I'm currently at ~$600-625 for the #WineAndHoneyDoubłet, and the leather for that was bought at clearance or sale prices.

5) The layers (from outside to inside) of the #GermanPatrician doublet are the Microsuede outer shell, the boiled wool underlining, the interfacing (which was 3 layers of cotton batting quilted together) and the linen lining.

4) you can also add interlining and underlining in multiple layers to provide shape/structure (this is where the tailoring seen in modern suits gets its start). As you might recall, the #GermanPatrician doublet has 6 main layers, with 2 additional layers where the trim is.

Bonus, while cleaning/resetting the sewing areas I located all the pattern pieces for the copy of the Stibbert Museum doublet that was used for the #GermanPatrician outfit.

Well, I've decided not to go to the Renaissance Faire today. What with missing the day of work yesterday, it's just not responsible financially. Going to spend today relaxing and doing some cleaning after the rush to finish the #GermanPatrician doublet and breeches.

And, just in case anyone was curious, the doublet weighs in at around 6 lbs (2.72 kg) #GermanPatrician, #HistoricalTailoring, #sewing, #Renaissance, #cosplay

Laying out the pattern for the wool underlining of the #GermanPatrician breeches to minimize fabric use. One side of the leg is laid out right side up, the other is laid out wrong side up and the inner leg seams placed together. The same will be done for the actual lining.

#GermanPatrician outfit update, needed some additional width at the waist of the breeches, not enough of the Microsuede to work with, so added panels of the brown variegated wool with red linen trim at the side seams to get an additional 5 inches. The panels are stiffened with some 12 oz hemp canvas

Ok, not quite happy with how the cut out fabric for the #GermanPatrician Venetian breeches looks, so about to get stupid.

I may have started work on the matching breeches for the #GermanPatrician doublet. Need to make some more trim first and then on to assembly

Got half the buttons sewn on the #GermanPatrician doublet , guess I can work on the sleeves. I'm still deciding whether to put the other 20 on as just decorative on the other side of the front 🧶 #HistoricalTailoring, #SewingProject, #sewing

After the nap I'll work on sewing the remaining 37 buttons on the front of the #GermanPatrician #Doublet, now that I've finally finished sewing the lining to the outer shell.

Was going to work on sewing the lining and shell of the #GermanPatrician doublet together today and tomorrow, then remembered I'm waiting on the 3/8 inch red cotton twill tape I need for the button loops, so I'll be working on the eyelets in the sleeves instead. #craftsky, #HistoricalTailoring

Let's see how far I get working on the waist eyelet/lacing tapes for #GermanPatrician doublet today. 2 tapes, eighteen eyelets. I get these done and I can sew the inner lining to the outer shell of the doublet. 🧶, #costuming #cosplay, #HistoricalTailoring

One down, 25 to go (for the sleeves anyways). Probably some of the most difficult eyelets I've done in a long time, had to break out the sailor's palm to get through the compressed 7 layers of material. 🧶 #GermanPatrician, #cosplay, #HistoricalTailoring

Both sleeves lined with the padded, quilted inner sleeves, one with the cuff and armcap binding finished. Now onto finishing the edges on the second and then to put the eyelets in through up to 5-9 layers of fabric (up to 1/4" thick in places) 🧶 #GermanPatrician, #cosplay, #HistoricalTailoring

Ok, home from work and looking forward to tomorrow off afterwards working 13 days in a row. Going to take a nap and then get up and work on the #GermanPatrician doublet.

Also, if you like lightly sour and apples, pick some of these up. I was turned onto them by a coworker.
