Still stops me in my tracks. Fellow family historians will get it - seeing my Great Great Uncle Albert ‘Ginger’ Goodwin immortalised on the wall of a supermarket in Cumberland. A bit faded now, but his spirit lives on!

Yes. #GingerGoodwin born in Yorkshire and shot on Vancouver Island. Here visiting his grave and the archives at Cumberland BC.
Took a moment to pause after visiting Ginger Goodwin’s grave in Cumberland and being interviewed about him at the archives. As I head further north, the remoteness deepens and so does the peace. Just how I like it. #GingerGoodwin #VancouverIsland
Good to be at the archives in #CumberlandBC again. Lots of #GingerGoodwin memorabilia here. Heartwarming conversations with local people whose ancestors knew him. #FamilyHistory #LocalHistory #Mining
Wonderful to see the renovated gravestone of #GingerGoodwin at Cumberland Cemetery on#VancouverIsland and proud to represent the Goodwin family in this process. #FamilyHistory #Mining @familytreeuk.bsky.social
#CanadaDay finds me travelling #VancouverIsland, thinking about my great-great uncle, Albert #GingerGoodwin. Such a change to leave the Yorkshire pits for the forests & fresh air of this beautiful place. This island became the backdrop to the rest of his short but powerful life. #FamilyHistory
Even managed to squeeze in a trip to the British Columbia #Archives next to the spectacular Museum in Victoria, Vancouver Island. Interesting to discover many digital interviews of people recalling stories about #GingerGoodwin #FamilyHistory
#OnThisDay 2018, I took part in the re-enactment of my Great Great Uncle Albert’s funeral cortège and gave a reading at his graveside on behalf of the Goodwin family. It’s a pleasure to return to Cumberland, Vancouver Island for another chapter of the #GingerGoodwin story. #FamilyHistory #Genealogy

My amazing great aunts Hetty (104) and Mabel (100) taken this year at Hetty’s birthday party. They are both nieces of #GingerGoodwin and sisters of my Nana Edith. #FamilyHistory
It has to be my GG Uncle #GingerGoodwin. Working class hero born in Yorkshire and murdered on Vancouver Island 1918. His death ignited Canada’s first general strike.
