What day is it today? It's
* Bandcamp Friday AND
* nearly International Women's Day
so to celebrate #GirlsGotPolyphony it's time to go to our Bandcamp page and grab lots of #nuntastic music
It's also time for a big, HUGE announcement! Sneak a peak at our Linktree for a clue

A middle-aged lady with red ombré hair and turtle shell round glasses smiles wryly at the camera she is wearing a colourful knitted lace scarf and a blue raincoat. She has a dark bruise under her left eye.
On my way to @musicasecreta.bsky.social’s concert at Brighton Early Music Festival - first time travelling from Forest Hill. I have a black eye, a dodgy knee, and 500 unanswered emails thanks to moving house on Wednesday, but this evening Will Be Lush. #GirlsGotPolyphony
And .... it's a wrap on our crowdfunder! An amazing effort in the home stretch - more than £1000 raised in the past four days. A big, HUGE thank you to everyone who has supported the project. We will get your rewards to you as soon as we can. 😍

2 more days of our crowdfunder to go, and today's MiniMotet-based-on-a-well-known-tune is one for all the #Monteverdi fans. To paraphrase, sure he was great, but nuns did it all in wimples and chronically sleep-deprived. #nuntastic #earlymodern #GirlsGotPolyphony 1/

Three days to go, and here is Mini Motet 2: Da pacem Domine in diebus nostris. It uses a different strategy to yesterday's, since its chant melody is hidden in the Tenor.
We all need some peace in our time, of course.

We absolutely need more projects and albums like this in the world. #GirlsGotPolyphony and their stories and music matter.
Here's your morning history lesson - three minutes of family intrigue, one confirmed murder, one attempted murder, and one ... well, we just don't know! 🤷♀️

8 years ago? The music has gone all over the world and come right back, with non-early-music-specialist upper-voice groups embracing its #nuntastic loveliness and weirdness (cf Papagena and Lyyra). Small steps, still a lot of work to do but #GirlsGotPolyphony now. www.theguardian.com/music/musicb...
NOT ONLY is it #InternationalWomensDay tomorrow, it is ALSO #BandcampFriday today! You can hear/buy music written by and for #Renaissance women from our Bandcamp store today, and all the money will support our research and recording. #earlymusic #nuntastic #GirlsGotPolyphony buff.ly/YQgRzYW
A group of women sitting and standing in a church hall. The floor is wooden, the walls are white and there are beams in the ceiling. A black music stand is in the foreground.
I enjoyed introducing members of the Eastern Early Music Forum to some #nuntastic repertoire on Saturday! Followed Sunday by a smaller workshop on madrigals by Maddalena Casulana. Many miles driven, much music made. Next up Friday: Misogyny in Music policy day at Southampton Uni. #GirlsGotPolyphony
Here's something lovely to remind you of summer: a setting of Petrarch's Vergine bella from the Biffoli-Sostegni manuscript. What did nuns do in their time off from singing the Divine Office? Sing devotional songs, of course! #nuntastic #earlymodern #GirlsGotPolyphony

This afternoon I am mostly putting together my modern choirbooks for filming tomorrow with Musica Secreta. Come by St Mary Mag in Oxford and watch us in action! #nuntastic #earlymodern #GirlsGotPolyphony
Somewhere in my youth or childhood, I must have done something good...
The sermon at Salisbury Cathedral last Sunday used my research. Huge thanks to Canon Anna Macham for this! #nuntastic #earlymodern #GirlsGotPolyphony

A page of sixteenth-century music manuscript with two parts of five lines each: the text is the mass ordinary for the Sanctus. There is a decorated "S"s a the beginning of each part.
In the decorated letters on this page, you can see two names, Madalena (hard to read, in the top "S") and Clementia (in the lower "S." The two nuns, Maddalena Sini and Clemenzia Sostegni, joined San Matteo in Arcetri within weeks of each other, in 1541.

We are so delighted to see our founder Deborah Roberts recognised in today’s honours #GirlsGotPolyphony
I so love these women - I give them difficult and mad things to do, and they do them so beautifully. Every musician on this track is at the top of her game. #earlymodern music FTW. And time to revive that hashtag #GirlsGotPolyphony...
