Appropriate since today is #GoForBrokeDay which honors the 442nd RCT, composed primarily of Nisei (second-generation Japanese Americans) volunteers, and is renowned for its combat record and courage during World War II

Today is #GoForBrokeDay, honoring the 442nd RCT & marking the day in 1945 when Sadao Munemori was killed in action in Italy. Born in 1922 in Glendale, CA, Munemori studied to become an auto mechanic, but wasn’t able to get a job and instead enlisted in the army in 1942.

Japanese American soldiers in World War II fought the Axis abroad and racial prejudice at home For AAPI History Month: Young Japanese American men who were incarcerated because they were presumed to be disloyal were considered loyal enough for compulsory military service.

On #GoForBrokeDay, we honor the bravery of Japanese American soldiers who fought for a country that unjustly imprisoned them and their families. Their courage and resilience remain an enduring legacy.
