🌎 Golden tanager (Tangara arthus) The golden tanager is a vibrant bird, predominantly golden-yellow with contrasting black on its back, wings, tail, and ear coverts. Some subspecies show chestnut on the breast and flanks. Found in the Andes and the Venezuelan Coastal Range, it inhabits humid montane forests and edges, typically between 700-2,500m. Golden tanagers are active birds often occuring in small groups and mixed-species flocks, foraging for fruits and insects. Nine subspecies are recognised.
