A stunning telescopic image reveals the Giant Squid Nebula (Ou4) nestled within the larger Flying Bat Nebula (Sh2-129) in the constellation Cepheus. The vibrant blue-green Squid Nebula, a bipolar outflow from a triple star system (HR8119), contrasts beautifully against the reddish hydrogen emission of the Bat Nebula. This composite image, created from 55 hours of narrowband data, spans 3 degrees of the sky, showcasing the incredible detail of these cosmic structures approximately 2,300 light-years away.

Stunning telescopic image showcasing the Squid Nebula (Ou4) nestled within the Flying Bat Nebula (Sh2-129) in the Cepheus constellation. The image, a composite of 20 hours of data, reveals the Squid Nebula's distinct bipolar shape and its possible location within Sh2-129, approximately 2,300 light-years away and spanning nearly 50 light-years. The reddish hues represent hydrogen emission from Sh2-129, while the blue-green highlights doubly ionized oxygen in Ou4, potentially an outflow driven by the triple star system HR8119.
