#HRMPoli so, before you pay your big bill increase to Halifax Water, start looking at the customer service and relationship they have? Remember the 140 surgeries cancelled? How many lawsuits did they get? Yet they think they deserve $12 to mail a bill. FU @halifaxwater.bsky.social Put your CEO on

I had to be in Shearwater before busses ran, I know that. I had to drive my entire career because #HRMPoli talked about good busses for 30 years, then let them go on strike and people found alternative methods to commute, then no ridership now they want to restrict bikes. It's always been backwards

If only 1 of our 2 #Halifax Mayors could fix this?
One ran on a #Healthcare platform, and isn't making any progress.

After #TimHouston showed he was lying, he put commissionaires out of work as Parking Attendants. Now dabbling in City Planning. RESIGN

Letter on Office of the Premier letterhead reading in part: It is with great concern that I write to you regarding HRM Council's plans to turn Morris Street into a one-way street. Eliminating one lane to add bike lanes will contribute to traffic congestion, create unnecessary public safety risks and potentially jeopardize port activity. ... As you're aware, this spring our government passed Bill 24, which provides order-making authority with respect to transportation projects in municipalities. If HRM Council proceeds to make Morris a one-way street, the provincial government will be forced to act."

A screenshot of an email to the premier reading:

Premier Houston,

You did not run for Halifax Metro Council. You were not elected by Haligonians. I am dismayed that you think you have the moral authority to overrule decisions made by our elected representatives.

I disagree with you about the Morris St bike lane decision, but it doesn't matter about the specifics of the decision you want to overrule. Leave Halifax alone. You were elected on the basis of promises to improve healthcare infrastructure, tackle nursing shortages, impose a cap on electricity rate increases, and reduce GST and small business taxes... NOT to meddle in municipal governance.

Further, you want to double the population of this province but can't do the math to see that we do not have room on the peninsula for double the cars.

Please back down from your threats to override the will of the voters of Halifax.

Sincerely,
Joanne Merriam

Why aren't we investing more in temporary modifications like this? It's cheap, it's adjustable, and it's easy to implement. These things are EASY. We don't need another report on whether it *could* be feasible at some non-specific time in the future, we need change now #halifax #hrmpoli #urbanism

How many people need to die from vehicular violence before we *actually change* the way we approach street design. What is the exact number of tolerable deaths? Is it 2, is it 5, is it 10? Why has it acceptable to ever be greater than ZERO? #halifax #hrmpoli #urbanism
