#HRMPoli so, before you pay your big bill increase to Halifax Water, start looking at the customer service and relationship they have? Remember the 140 surgeries cancelled? How many lawsuits did they get? Yet they think they deserve $12 to mail a bill. FU @halifaxwater.bsky.social Put your CEO on
I had to be in Shearwater before busses ran, I know that. I had to drive my entire career because #HRMPoli talked about good busses for 30 years, then let them go on strike and people found alternative methods to commute, then no ridership now they want to restrict bikes. It's always been backwards
What we need is strong PREMIER power, with a strong premier. Let's have another SNAP ELECTION & ditch the weak #TimHouston, for a STRONG NON-MAYOR?
#NSPoli #HRMPoli
We didn't vote for Town Planning, remember Healthcare & your promise of 'no snap election'?
Houston; we have a liar & Cry-baby Andy
If only 1 of our 2 #Halifax Mayors could fix this?
One ran on a #Healthcare platform, and isn't making any progress.
After #TimHouston showed he was lying, he put commissionaires out of work as Parking Attendants. Now dabbling in City Planning. RESIGN

Letter on Office of the Premier letterhead reading in part: It is with great concern that I write to you regarding HRM Council's plans to turn Morris Street into a one-way street. Eliminating one lane to add bike lanes will contribute to traffic congestion, create unnecessary public safety risks and potentially jeopardize port activity. ... As you're aware, this spring our government passed Bill 24, which provides order-making authority with respect to transportation projects in municipalities. If HRM Council proceeds to make Morris a one-way street, the provincial government will be forced to act."
A screenshot of an email to the premier reading: Premier Houston, You did not run for Halifax Metro Council. You were not elected by Haligonians. I am dismayed that you think you have the moral authority to overrule decisions made by our elected representatives. I disagree with you about the Morris St bike lane decision, but it doesn't matter about the specifics of the decision you want to overrule. Leave Halifax alone. You were elected on the basis of promises to improve healthcare infrastructure, tackle nursing shortages, impose a cap on electricity rate increases, and reduce GST and small business taxes... NOT to meddle in municipal governance. Further, you want to double the population of this province but can't do the math to see that we do not have room on the peninsula for double the cars. Please back down from your threats to override the will of the voters of Halifax. Sincerely, Joanne Merriam Dartmouth, NS
Emailed premier of #NovaScotia, cc'ed @claudiachenderns.bsky.social, Fillmore, Kent & Mancini. (You should too!) I'm not even a cyclist but I sure would like improvements to our non-car infrastructure and for the premier to stay the f out of #Halifax city governance. #BikeHFX #HRMpoli #NSpoli
#Halifax Mayor says, if #TimHouston isn't able to meet his #Healthcare promises in his second term, he's going to have to step in.
The lying Premier now wants to design cities, like he did with parking problems. How's that doctor shortage going?
#HRMPoli #NSPoli #ThickHeadTim
Mayor #TimHouston issues a staff report.
Wasn't a good premier either, what will Andy do now?
#HRMPoli #NSPoli #Healthcare #NoSnapElection #DoYOURownJobTimmy
"If you talk to people on the street and said, 'Do you think this is a good time to slow traffic down? Should we do something to create more traffic problems in the city?' #Halifax
How would #TimHouston know what the public wants?
Never kept his own election promises.

Thanks for the shout-out and the conversation, Councillor Cuttell!
We hope that we can live up to the lofty journalistic standards our municipality has come to expect.

Was proud to see the councillors @samaustind5.bsky.social, @lecwhite.bsky.social, Sean Clearly, and Victoria Hinch vote against the second BAL item regarding the proposed increase in police staffing
#nspoli #hrmpoli
Our lovely #Halifax major Andy Fillmore was the only vote NO to the first BAL item concerning a Community Crisis Diversion Pilot. Even tho both HRP and RCMP proclaimed enthusiastic support of the project

Why aren't we investing more in temporary modifications like this? It's cheap, it's adjustable, and it's easy to implement. These things are EASY. We don't need another report on whether it *could* be feasible at some non-specific time in the future, we need change now #halifax #hrmpoli #urbanism
How many people need to die from vehicular violence before we *actually change* the way we approach street design. What is the exact number of tolerable deaths? Is it 2, is it 5, is it 10? Why has it acceptable to ever be greater than ZERO? #halifax #hrmpoli #urbanism
What's up superfriends, I'll be live sky-ing today's council meeting until I invariably get distracted by writing. The meeting will start at 10a, and that's when replies to this thread will start coming thick and fast.

So not only did the police board bypass talking to citizens about this, they decided they needed more than one - Sweet f’ing hell! #hfxpoli #HRMpoli
Two days late and 1000 words longer than it should be and my recap of Tuesday’s council meeting and the start of budget season is now live
#hrmpoli #hfxpoli
I finally got a draft coherent enough to get it out of editing. Big week for mistakes from Halifax's councillors. Read my latest about Wednesdays Board of Police Commissioners for @thecoast.ca

It’s been FOUR YEARS for Lake Major & they never thought to mention it?? #hrmpoli #hfxpoli

How is Halifax's city council shaping up as they head into this year's budget season? Who ended up on the HRM's standing committees and will they make things better or worse? All that and a lot more of that can be found in my recap of the meeting over on The Coast.
#hrmpoli
There is a Board of Police Commissioners meeting at 1pm today. I will be watching and live-posting some of what happens.
Here is the agenda:
www.halifax.ca/city-hall/bo...
#hrmpoli
BUT let me know if you find this live-posting helpful. I will do that for future council and committee meetings. #hrmpoli
Halifax Regional Council is still in-camera. That's just about three hours now. There's not much left on the agenda, but I will have at least one story later. No more live-posting for today.
#hrmpoli
Alright what's up Halifax, I'm here at city hall and will be live sky-ing this meeting until I inevitably get distracted by writing the recap article. We are currently on community announcements.
#hrmpoli
Speed kills! Luckily, in journalism, mistakes made by going too fast just require a correction. Be advised: This story now has a correction. Two sites (not none) have been designated, and I corrected sloppy paraphrasing.

Last week's Point Pleasant Park Advisory Committee meeting was an interesting watch. You can read all about it in my latest for The Coast
#hrmpoli
On Tuesday homelessness dominated councils debate. In my latest for thecoast.ca, I recap Tuesdays debate, talk about how Tim Houston can fix homelessness, and explain why councils debate performances remind me of England's Football Association Cup.

I give the city and our council a lot of shit. Credit where credit is due, they did some good last week. My latest for The Coast

A Halifax Water reservoir tank. Halifax water vehicles are seen joyriding around on non-work use. No quality control. Calls are not directed to a supervisor, as a monopoly, they refuse to talk to the public. Regulators will rubber stamp the price increase WATCH YOUR MONEY WHEN IT IS SHOPPING
People need to question #HalifaxWater?
They answer to no one, are lax with our money & now they want an increase to deal with their former mistakes?
CEO just quit again. #Halisky
