The reality is this only scratches the surface. Voters with disabilities, young people, seniors, rural voters, Black and Brown voters, immigrants, voters with prior convictions, low income voters, domestic violence survivors, renters, LGBTQ voters and more would be impacted. #HandsOffMIVote
There is a reason you are starting to see local leaders speak out against this horrendous policy. Asking voters to jump through hoops and tear through red tape in order to remain registered to vote is simply wrong and un-American. #HandsOffMIVote
-These laws also affect the 84% of women who change their names after getting married.
-Nationwide, approximately 69 million American women have changed their names after marriage. #HandsOffMIVote
-20 percent of adults with disabilities do not have a license, compared to just 6% of adult citizens who do not have disabilities.
-41% of adult citizens ages 18-24 lack a license with a current address or name, further disenfranchising eligible voters. #HandsOffMIVote
-18 percent of Michigan voters, nearly 1.1 million people, were registered through methods that could be disrupted by these policies.
-Nearly half of Black citizens ages 18-29 do not have a license with a current address or name; 30% percent do not have a license. #HandsOffMIVote
