Toots Koopman, who did undercover anti-fascist work in Italy, escaped twice from Italian prisons, spied on German officials in Venice and was sent to the Ravensbrück death camp. She was released just before its liberation in 1945 and her ex-boyfriend Randolph Churchill flew to nurse her, bring her back from the brink of starvation and get her a passport. After the war, she and her life partner Erica Brausen ran the Hanover Gallery in London. BRAVE.

Headstone / grave of the "Queen of the Okefenokee" - Lydia A Stone. This woman was a force to be recokend with! Standing over 6 ft tall, with a booming voice and strength to pick up a crosstie in her prime. Her grave is located in High Bluff Cemetery - one of my favorite places to visit.
