Dear Senator, I am writing as a constituent to urge you to support an impeachment inquiry and Articles of Impeachment against President Donald J. Trump. This request is grounded not in partisan disagreement, but in the fundamental principle that the United States is a nation governed by the rule of law—a principle the president has repeatedly violated during his second term. Our Constitution deliberately divides power to prevent any one person from ruling by decree. Yet President Trump has repeatedly acted as though legal limits do not apply to him. In 2025, he ordered large-scale U.S. military action in Venezuela, including the capture and removal of that country’s president, without seeking or receiving congressional authorization. Regardless of one’s views of the Venezuelan government, the Constitution is explicit: Congress, not the president acting alone, holds the power to authorize war. Ignoring that limit is not strength—it is lawlessness. Domestically, the president has worked systematically to weaken oversight and accountability. Early in his second term, he removed or attempted to remove numerous inspectors general—officials whose statutory role is to investigate waste, fraud, and abuse within the executive branch. Several of these removals violated legal notice requirements and targeted watchdogs overseeing sensitive investigations. A president who disables oversight to avoid scrutiny is acting directly against the constitutional design. The rule of law also requires that public office not be used for personal enrichment. President Trump has continued to maintain extensive private business interests while shaping federal policy in ways that benefit those interests, including regulatory and enforcement decisions tied to cryptocurrency and financial ventures associated with him and his family.
