Bryre’s training in alchemy includes knowledge in being an apothecary and field medic. Whatever magic he implements is more supplementary compared to his tried and true method of

Throwing potion bottles directly at his teammates mid-battle.

Bryre's decades-long stay in Thavnair meant that he's acclimated to the spices common to the local cuisine.

That being said, he struggles with Zero's spicy curry, but he still enjoys the flavor enough to try and pull through. One scoop at a time.

Bryre was actually made as a "gender-flipped" version of my already-existing retainer, Vryn! In the wake of the announcement to add male Vieras to the game, I felt compelled to make an alt of one and proceeded to make him as Vryn's brother during EW's benchmark.

Bryre lived in Thavnair for most of his life, so the Palaka set is what he's worn and is used to.

Odgerel kept herself around the Hinterlands and was already well involved with Alexander by the time Eliara meets her, thus the Alexandrian coat for her start.

Bryre is in his 40s, so while relatively young for a Viera, he’s not exactly baby either. His knowledge in alchemy is that with roughly 25 years of experience, to date.

His familiarity with Veenan culture is now scant, due to having left the Skatay at a young age.

Bryre came about during the EW Benchmark, and he was intentionally designed to be the brother of an existing retainer, thus the screen cap comparing them side by side.

Barely anything has changed aside from an edit to make him a touch lankier in some outfits.

Bryre is a variant spelling of briar, referring to the thorny parts of the rose bushes. His last name Thorne further plays into the meaning.

Odgerel means starlight, referring to her focus in astromancy.

Bryre wishes his age span is more akin to his non-Vieran peers, just to avoid the pain of having to outlive them. His uncle’s passing gave the grave reminder of that fact. Though he’s trying to accept it, it’s no less painful for him.

Bryre took on a city name since he figured to do so while he’s outside. His last name, Thorne, is to denote his relation to his adopted uncle, Diedrich Thorne.

Vyrn, his sister, chose to keep her forest name. That key decision led to her eventual reunion with Bryre.

Bryre was already presented as masc by the time he found himself in Thavnair, and he prefers being as such. But due to his early upbringing in the Skatay, his approach to his masculinity remains very fluid, or at least NB-leaning.

Bryre speaks somewhat technical due to his alchemy studies. His accent is primarily Hannish, though slivers of the accent commonly found in the Skatay Range can bring about, indicating the years he spent there as a child.

Bryre is a SGE in-game because that would be the closest we would get for a Chemist job, especially back when we were "we didn't get Chemist, so SGE is the next best thing" during the reveal.

MCH was due to IC reasons of him needing some way to defend himself on the roads.

Bryre and Hikishi both fall under the “crafter/gatherers first, fighters second” category with ALC/BTN and MIN/GSM respectively, with Hikishi being almost exclusively non-combative. The only times she’s not is usually due to self-defense.

Thinking more on it, the alts were still made similarly but now I just make their lore alongside lmao

Bryre was me being excited that they’re bringing male Viera, so I made him during the EW benchmark and came up with his backstory as the brother of one of my retainers.
