Today's #histmed #histsport tangent - Dr Barbara Moore, Russian emigree engineer, vegan advocate, believer in breatharianism, extreme long distance walker (3387 miles across USA in 87 days for e.g.). Died tragically in obscurity, defeated by legal issues (& poss eating disorder)

Fun fact: at the 1924 Paris Olympics the US rowing coach, horrified by the Olympic Village food (dry oranges, scanty butter), booked the team into a private hotel/restaurant. The proud lady chef served a 24 lobster platter as a 4th July treat which he refused due to 'indigestion risk' #histsport
