Liverpool's long-forgotten Nova Scotia district, now the site of Mann Island, was once a lively dockside hub and shanty at the heart of the city's maritime trade.

Named after its Canadian namesake, it prospered through the timber trade that fuelled Liverpool's shipbuilding.
