It's been a while since I've done oil dot filters. Blog/video recommendations so far are gloss, semi-gloss, or a matt surface... 🤦‍♂️ maybe semi-gloss? I'm planning on lightening the horizontal surfaces (sun/oxidation) and adding dust - France July/August 1944, after the breakout.

A Gloster Meteor model now primed in a dark grey almost identical to the original plastic.

Filler and primer applied. I'm trying some new primer: VMS No Peel acrylic. Airbrushes nicely and doesn't peel if sanded. I'm impressed.
VMS makes me think of DEC Vax computers 😄

Initial building phase done, some bits to go on when top finish is done. Tracks to sort, they don't look problematic. A top hatch is spring loaded, the issue is the loops aren't strong enough to hold the springs. Great! Ive removed them and will have the hatch open. #histscalemodels

The assault ship HMS Fearless from 1960s era with green decks. It has a large helicopter pad with 5 landing circles in white. There's also a large stern ramp for landing craft.

The very old (1960s) Airfix HMS Fearless in 1/600 scale. I am just building this out of box, with no attempts to add fancy stuff like railings. This one has been on and off since before Christmas!

Back on the wagon for #buildthestash ! Hit four hobby stores and all I got was some 1/700 helicopters, which do not count. Neither does paint. Or sheet rod or tube plastic. Have I mentioned the Alamo is looking good these days with its new lunette and relief models? #histscalemodels

The good part about having to drive back from a hearing at San Antonio’s beautiful new federal courthouse was that I got to visit 3 great hobby stores looking for model kits - Dibble’s, Hill Country Hobby and the sublime The Model Box in Boerne. Highly recommend all three! #histscalemodels

Mostly completed Meteor. A twin jet fighter with rather stubby wings and a high tail.

A bit more progress on the Gloster Meteor. Nearly everything is together. Not happy about the front parts of the jets. Filler will be needed.

Some more done with the 1/16 Sherman. Hatches fitted, there is an issue with the small hatch, to open it fully which is what I want I'll have to do some cutting out. Poor really as its a open and close feature #histscalemodels #scalemodels

WIP - after some fairly extensive surgery on his wrists and the sword, the Indian Cavalry Officer is now armed and has all his limbs. Need to build wrists up with putty and then finish tidying up the paint on straps, gauntlets etc, but the end is finally in sight! #histscalemodels #scalemodels

Airfix box with a Gloster Meteor jet fighter. It has two jets mounted in the rather stubby straight wings.

Partly built model in a dark grey plastic. No cockpit or tail yet, and the engines only have the centre sections completed.

The first operational British jet fighter, the Gloster Meteor. A very conservative airframe, unlike its German counterpart, the Me-262. However it was rugged, easy to service and very adaptable. This is a post-war example.

Build was a fight and the decals very fragile. I've defo built better. First time I've used Hataka paints. I like them.

The upper and lower sections of the turret were a very poor fit, had plenty of glue and clamps on all day. The turret has casting detail, due to sanding down It lost some detail. I have used some Vellejo plastic putty and tippled the casting pattern back in. #histscalemodels #scalemodels

As promised, I've begun work on the Stryker MGS. Got some groundwork done, too, but it's not in a state worth photographing...
