#HopeFire 9/15 Weather: A warming and drying trend will begin today and continue into the weekend – temperatures will peak in the upper 80s in the valleys and upper 70s at the higher elevations, with humidity levels in the mid-teens! The fire is 5,634 acres!
#HopeFire 8/15 Firefighters will keep Northport Flat Creek Road open and clear of debris, and work to open up Lael Road through the middle of the fire and scout for access to tie in the western flank! The fire remains active causing Level 1,2 and 3 Evacuations!
#HopeFire 7/15 Today,crews and equipment will concentrateon holding and building on progress already made, reinforcing existing direct line and constructing indirect line!Structural protection and mop-up will continue – preservation of property and safety remain the top priority!
#HopeFire 6/15 The fire was active and showed wind-driven growth to the north and northeastern corner, progressing through a drainage! It also reached the waterline on the south end, but the Columbia River continues to be a successful natural containment feature!
#HopeFire 5/15 Crews used a combination of dozer and handline to reinforce the southwestern corner, with hotshot crews working up the western flank of the Hope Fire to establish a preliminary containment line! Note that there are currently two shelters open at this time!
#HopeFire 4/15 Helicopters and air tankers supported firefighters on the ground when conditions allowed! Evacuations Level 1, 2 and 3 remain in effect! The fire continues to produce smoke and cause air quality issues nearby! The fire has reached 5,000+ acres!
#HopeFire 3/15 Structural task forces focused on protecting structures on the southeastern corner of the fire into the night, catching spot fires and mopping up areas to secure around structures where fire activity had decreased to ensure hot spots were extinguished!
