Saw two very strong docs @ #HotDocs25: 2000 METERS TO ANDRIIVKA + CUTTING THROUGH ROCKS. In awe of the filmmakers for the risks they took to tell these stories. Embedding oneself in a Ukranian counteroffensive. Following a councilwoman in rural Iran determined to defy patriarchal norms. 📽️

COME SEE ME IN THE GOOD LIGHT wins @hotdocs.bsky.social Audience Award as overall festival favourite. ENDLESS COOKIE scores Rogers prize for Canadian film. #HotDocs25 povmagazine.com/come-see-me-...
One other film I watched on Wednesday event that I didn't mention earlier was Unwanted. It talked about Venezuelan refugees fleeing to Chile where they endured lots of xenophobia. Even so, it was a film where I could feel empathy for both the Venezuelans and the Chileans. Rated it a 4/5. #HotDocs25
The Audience Award for #HotDocs25 went to Endless Cookie which I respectfully have to disagree on. The film had its funny lines, but it was just way too weird for my liking and it was hard to make sense of it all. Rated it a 2/5.
Watched two films tonight to wrap up #HotDocs25. Coexistence, My Ass was hysterical about Noam Shuster-Eliassi who used comedy and substance to discuss the Israel-Palestine conflict. The bit about her proposing to MBS (in Saudi Arabia) was the most hilarious highlight. Definitely a 5/5!

#HotDocs25: It may be the last day of #hotdocs, but we're serving up another piping-hot batch of new #reviews! Today, five #documentaries about #activism and #advocacy, including THE LAST AMBASSADOR, LIFE AFTER, PARADE: QUEER ACTS OF LOVE & RESISTANCE, and SHAMED! (moviepie.com/hot-docs-202...)

One thing I'll say about Deaf President Now and the Marlee Matlin doc playing at the same festivals: it is wild to see how two different documentaries edit the same Nightline segment. DFN doesn't even include her! #HotDocs25
