Hudson's Detroit announces first retail tenant
Real estate firm Bedrock on Friday announced activewear store Alo will be the first retail tenant at its $1.4 billion Hudson's Detroit development.
The location of Alo's first Detroit storefront marks the latest development on Woodward Avenue, where the famed Hudson's department store previously operated. The skyscraper is Detroit's tallest building and symbolizes efforts to revitalize downtown.
"Detroit is brimming with purpose and Alo's dedication to wellness and community complements the city's vibrancy and growth," Bedrock Senior Vice President of Leasing Naumann Idrees said in a statement. "As the inaugural retail tenant at Hudson's Detroit, we welcome Alo and embrace this as a significant moment for the city."
Alo's opening is planned for late summer.
The 1.5 million-square-foot Hudson's Detroit project features ground-floor retail and office spaces, including the new global headquarters of General Motors Co. The skyscraper will include the Detroit EDITION hotel and The Residences at The Detroit EDITION, a collection of high-rise condominiums.
Hudson's Detroit last month also announced a 56,000-square-feet event venue, The Department at Hudson's.
The development's first event was Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan's State of the City address in March.
