Scene from my GN Hunting of the Snark, wordless intro to Fit the Seventh, The Banker's Fate. The Bellman and the other B-Boyz are lured out of a wicker basket by a snakecharmer's shenai. Both snakecharmer and background mountain are plagued by semiotic indecision leading to Multiple Reality Syndrome, a common ailment of snark hunters. Today is Scott Joplin's birthday, so here's Alexandra "Xie" Kitchin playing Joplin's "Wall Street Rag" for Karl Marx.

Joplin wrote a very cool opera, Treemonisha, which deserves better from this cruel hard world, as do we all.
