Actually being on the ground in #IL04 has made me realize how much of a beltway issue the whole Chuy Garcia coronating his own successor thing is.

Like, outside of a few Independents who are trying to potentially launch runs now, it has not really resonated here at all

Today is the last day in Illinois to file for the 2026 election.

Garcia waited until today to announce his retirement, and hours before the deadline his Chief of Staff filed to run.

So the voters of #IL04 don't get a choice/primary in this safe blue seat.

So, Chuy Garcia filed to run for re-election in #IL04. But, just a few moments ago, his Chief of Staff also filed to run in the Democratic primary, theoretically against him.

Is Chuy going to drop out at the last minute and let his Chief of Staff waltz into the seat?

What would be the most Right Wing outcome in Illinois Dem primaries?

I had the chance to visit Oxxford Clothes, a Workers United union shop in #IL04 and see firsthand the dedication and craftsmanship their team holds. It’s clear that fair wages, safe working conditions, and a unifying voice have encouraged and strengthened their workforce!

I stood w/the General Consulate of Mexico in Chicago and the Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to educate our Latino owned businesses how to protect their workers and businesses. #IL04 is home to so many successful Latino businesses and I'm here to ensure they have the tools to be successful!
