Honored to share our work with @dagzcosmos.bsky.social on how we use digital tools to document Syria’s darkest spaces — the prisons. From the ISIS Prisons Museum to the ongoing Syria Prisons Museum project.

Hussam’s #testimony contributes to the ongoing efforts by the #ISISPrisonsMuseum to document and investigate the 2014 Shaitat Massac*re. This investigation includes #3D virtual tours, field interviews, and the most extensive mapping to date of victims’ names and mass grave sites.
The #ISISPrisonsMuseum has conducted a comprehensive study of the mass*acre to understand its context and implications, relying on field interviews, exclusive documents, forensic surveys, and site investigations. The study has compiled the most extensive lists to date of victims and #MassGraves.
The Battar Battalion Prison in Kishkiyya was run by an ISI*S battalion known for its bizarre practices and blood*y methods.
The #ISISPrisonsMuseum conducted an extensive study of the prison, relying on the testimonies of former detainees as well as an architectural and forensic analysis.
The #ISISPrisonsMuseum opens the file on the #Shaitat_Massacre committed by ISIS in 2014 against the #Shaitat clan in Deir ez-Zor, eastern #Syria—an atrocity that up to now has not been systematically studied and documented, despite hundreds of victims and missing persons.
The #ISISPrisonsMuseum publishes an in-depth study of the 2014 ISIS al-#Shaitat_massacre against the al-#Shaitat clan in Deir ez-Zor, shedding light on one of history’s most under-studied and brutal massacres.
The #ISISPrisonsMuseum is committed to publishing files that expose ISIS's practices and document its crimes. This initiative aims to shed light on the fates of those forcibly disappeared, honor the victims, and bolster efforts for justice and accountability.
The #ISISPrisonsMuseum (IPM) has collected information about this squad from testimonies of former detainees, who described the brutal role its members played in leading condemned individuals to their final fate.
The files also reveal mass graves where ISIS victims were buried, as well as details that may contribute to holding the perpetrators of crimes to account.
To view the published files and follow up on upcoming files, visit the #ISISPrisonsMuseum website.
WE ARE HIRING!
The #ISISPrisonsMuseum is hiring a #Monitoring and #Evaluation #Officer to design and implement a monitoring and evaluation framework.
Former prisoners interviewed by the #ISISPrisonsMuseum described the conditions they endured in solitary cells, providing insight into the types of tortur*e used to extract so called confessions.
#ISISPrisonsMuseum has documented these cells based on testimonies from former detainees, along with architectural analysis conducted by our team. ISI*S practices in these cells served as a model of tortur*e policies that it implemented in other prisons, which will be covered in future #IPM exhibits
#ISISPrisonsMuseum will soon present investigations and studies on the nature of prisons during the Assad regime era.
„Gibt es Neuigkeiten von deinem Bruder?“
Amer Matars unermüdliche Suche nach seinem vermissten Bruder inspirierte das Projekt #ISISPrisonsMuseum, eine Ausstellung, die die Verbrechen des #IS in #Syrien & #Irak dokumentiert und virtuelle Realität und moderne Technologien einsetzt. #ISIS
